Ordinary Words

Wrote a song,
published a poetry book,
began a blog,
maintain a Face Book page... all by under the  name ORDINARY WORDS....here's the instrumental along with the lyrics....

Ordinary Words

1. There should be no such

Word as ordinary

Since it can't apply to you.

Our  vocabulary

Works inadequately

When I try describing you.

Refrain:

Words are my life

And I'm at a stand still

Stuck  with mere tools of my voice.

So let's start from scratch and

Make up new rules so that

I have a much better choice.

Ordinary words are weary

Regular vocabulary

Never will do justice to the

Way I must express myself.

I'll throw out the dictionary.

Build a new vocabulary.

Ordinary word won't make its

Way back onto my bookshelf.

2. Normal dreams are not

Ever ordinary,

'specially when they include you.

Catch my dreams in a net

From a dictionary.

In its web only are bits of you.

Now that I am around you.

Oh yeah, All my days I'll be

Searching dictionaries

As I try describing you.

Gimme Love

For ABC Wednesday Letter G

Don't have any instrumental to post this week.  Gimme Love is a freestyle type poem which was inspired by a contest prompt... to watch a U-tube video and come up with a poem. Had not heard of Ed Sheeran before but I did enjoy his song and the way he presented it.

Words

On an orange backdrop

Spilling the guts

Of the desperate,

Disparate

Poet-turned-songwriter.

His chosen creative outlet,

Our inlet

To see if we can concur

With his words

“Give Me Love”

An no, I did not "win" the contest but I did get good positive feedback from other poets♫♪

No Spring

Had my daughter take voice lessons when she was in the 5/6 combined class at our local school.  I thought she needed some self confidence and the place where I took the kids for their piano lessons offered voice lessons -so I could get two kids of my four occupied at the same time.  She now exudes self confidence...sailed through college as a dorm resident advisor....is  chosen at her work for outstanding employee...so she's doing well.

Here's a piece she composed and plays on the piano.  I threw the other instruments in and made up the lyrics.....

NO SPRING

These days

I feel you've lost your heart,

You’re breaking away

We’re falling apart

I wish we were still

Two peas in a pod.

I see you and

all we do is nod.

These days are open

And I am changing as I learn,

As leaves turn

And winds change direction…

Refrain:

Times like these I feel there is no hope

Now I need some answers and I need to cope

I’ll change the seasons. Here’s my vote:

I’ll change summer to winter,

Winter to fall

With no spring at all

These Days…Ooh

These days

I trudge along this road

I’m in overload

My season is sad

Refrain

Summer is winter and

Winter will fall

Sadness has entered with

No spring at all

Change rearranges. My seasons seem to crawl.

Fooling Time

I've posted this song in a previous post, but I did not have the audio widget working then and I don't think many folks got a chance to see/hear it. Plus it just seems to fit this political climate.... Tried for a more symphonic sound♫

And I'm not just sure whether it should be E'vry or Ev'ry but at least I'm consistent!

Fooling Time

I try fooling time,

Put off til tomorrow all my dreams I will follow.

I can fool your mind,

Faking comes so easily, I fool you all the time.

Folks can be fooled and love can be fooled.

My friends  can be told some lies now and then.

Now that I have my audio widget actually working, I thought I'd post one of my first vocal recordings that daughter Angela did when she was still in high school.  She has now graduated college with a communications degree and is employed by Humana, but she still likes to sing♫

MOONIVERSE

1. I stopped for directions. He raised his glasses.

I looked in his eyes and I knew.

Here was a man who could answer questions.

Yeah, destiny came in on cue.

“Can you direct me sir, straight to the moon?”

“I’ll take you,” he replied. “Wait until noon.”

2. Noon came on time and we left together,

The man in the moon merely smiled.

Time ticked on by and the sun shut down as

The milky way filled up the sky.

Refrain:

Mooniverse, mooniverse, you’re never blue.

Nowhere on earth can I find one like you.

I have found my

Pie in the sky.

3. There’s nothing mystic. It’s quite simplistic.

Hey I take directions real good.

Our lucky stars keep on generating
