The Pick Up Artist

Well, I actually had time to write a new poem and thought I'd throw it out there for scrutiny.  I posted it on a poetry site as well♫♪

The Pick Up Artist

First and foremost, survey the room.
Strategize and memorize the participants, don’t assume
That Ken there, looking dapper
should be the first.
Instead presume
That the well known architects
will moan and begroan, feel attacked
when I ask that they scale back
their designs.  Restructure their hard work
while I lavish my admiration all the while.
And next is Barb, sporting her perfect smile.
Now I notice Annie, she looks ragged.
Her friend Samantha, off in a corner, sagged.
Her archaic clothes,
her arrogant pose
She just can’t fit in, share the game.
And Chubs! What a nickname
for such a beautiful creature,
slyly asleep, her most beguiling feature.
Will there be tears? Will an argument arise?
Or will my tact and aplomb overcome the cries?
I can no longer just ‘sweep the room with a glance’-
that old adage from Erma Bombeck, such nuance.
I must pick and choose,
legos, dolls, and shoes-
The bane of a mother of four, my existence.

FYI: Chubs is the nickname my kids call my cat Tess

Juxtaposed♫

The word Juxtapose always fascinated me.  When the Beatles came out with the song "Band on the Run", I was totally entranced by all the juxtapositions.  Here's my tribute to the word and I have moved the instrumental to the top of my song page-click on the link in the side bar.  This is an entry for Alphabe-Thursday Letter J Check out other J entries!

And I continue to promote my just released novel MILLENNIUM GIRL which is now available through all the regular outlets.  A Kindle link can be found in the side bar, along with my poetry book's Kindle link.  Check it out!!

Juxtaposed

1. Your eyes speak.
Your lips listen and
your ears see more than they should.
My heart reaches out to your heart.
And my hand clenched tight,
Beats out a rhythm.

2. Your eyes wait
for your lip’s balm
As I hear your response to me.
Your pulse takes on steady rhythm
As my hand unclenched
Finds a new calm.

Refrain
 My senses are juxtaposed
On the edge of my feelings
Your actions, I suppose
Are a reaction to my being.

~

Your eyes speak
Just suppose
Your lips listen.
Juxtaposed
Your ears see more than they should
I suppose
My heart reaches out to your heart
And my hand, juxtaposed, beats out a rhythm.

My senses are juxtaposed on the edge
I suppose, of my feelings.
Your intent, I suppose, is a juxtaposition
to my being.

♫Bon Mots And All Happy Thoughts♫

Fun instrumental and fun lyrics♫♪

And I continue to promote my just released novel MILLENNIUM GIRL which is now available through all the regular outlets.  A Kindle link is found on my side bar.  Check it out!!

Bon Mots And All Happy Thoughts

Peter Pan has no corner on
thoughts happy as me.
You’re my happy thought lately
and you know you set me free.

I’m moving the moon and stars to reshape our destiny
Time and seasons shed all reason, holding out eternity.

Hearts drawn by hand, dreams on demand
have nothin’ on me.
Bon mots and my happy thoughts
will transform our love, you'll see.

Mere thoughts of you, doodley hearts and arrows, mark me permanently.
I’ve retooled my universe to keep you safe only for me.

Bon mots and all happy thoughts
are meant for you and me.
Drenched with this stuff comes happiness.
You have to agree.

I’m moving the moon and stars to reshape our destiny
I’ve retooled my universe to keep you safe only for me.

Bon mots and the happy thoughts
are love’s guarantee.

If Wishes Were Horses

My daughter was 15 when she recorded this one. (She is 25 now) So, while I find it a bit pitchy, the words are discernible.  Plus this is one of my earliest lyrics and I just wanted it to rhyme more than I wanted to make any point...Now, when I look at reminiscing I see what a blessing that is.  Click on the song Page link in the side bar if you care to give it a listen♫  Linking to letter I for Alphabe-Thursday.

And I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to announce my just published novel!!
MILLENNIUM GIRL is a Sci Fi piece looking at a thousand years on one planet looking through the eyes of primarily one girl.  The link in the side bar takes you to it's Kindle edition, but is available as a paperback and hardcover at all the regular outlets♪

1. My mother always told me of story book rhymes.
They seemed to hearten her and I liked the good times.
We’d fill our heads with all of the easy anecdotes.
They all come back to me like a fuzzy warm house coat.
My mother’d say…

Refrain:
If wishes were horses then beggars could ride.
Now all these verses hide in my memory alive.
Like rich man, and poor man, and beggarman, thief,
Doctor, and lawyer, and the merchant chief.
Oh what a tangled web we weave
When we practice to deceive.

2. Mother always watched all the movie musicals.
We’d curl up on the couch and enjoy the guys and gals.
My head was always filled with romantic comedies.
They all come back to me like a cure-all remedy.
I hear her say… (refrain)

We are the only ones that we deceive.
When we get caught up in memories.
Oh what a tangled web we weave
When we practice to deceive.
~
We are the only ones that we deceive.
When we get caught up in memories.

3. Mother always read all the romance novelettes.
She would laugh out loud at the hero’s fumbled mess.
She lived all of her life in her house vicariously.
Now all she has in store is a faulty memory.
She’d always say….(refrain)

We are the only ones that we deceive.
When we get caught up in memories.
Oh what a tangled web we weave
When we practice to deceive.

And So It Begins♫♪

Here's a light instrumental to check out by clicking on my song page found in the side bar.  It's at the top of my list this week....linking up with a new round of ABC Wednesday...Letter A
And I have to announce the launch of my novel Millennium Girl!!!
A short Sci Fi piece spanning approximately a thousand years looking through the eyes of primarily one girl....I have the side link to guide you to it♫

1. And so it begins.
Reinventing you my friend
Am I the beguiling one
In my blue jeans, for fun
Lookin’ so willowy?
You tempt me with fashion sense
Keeping me in suspense.
Shirt lookin’ billowy.

2. And so it begins.
Making up all our new trends.
So we play this little dance
Chasing down our romance.
Lookin’ for common ground.
We share our dislikes and likes
Chat about cars and bikes
Findin’ that common ground.

Refrain:
Let’s take a ride in your car.
Check out the music that you prefer.
I’ll phone you from a far.
Let’s chat on line.

3. And so it begins.
 noting shy little grins.
you look right into my eyes,
Daring me not to buy
all you present to me.
As we set upon our course
Teetering to endorse each other’s fantasy.

Refrain

Repeat verse 1

Just so it begins
That’s the reason for now
And so it begins
Not to worry with how it will end.

House Of The Lord

Presented here are lyrics to a choral piece.  Another song my daughter recorded and can be found at the top of my song page site this week.
Linking to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday Letter H

House of the Lord
References...Luke 6:36, John 14:2, Matt 7:26, Josh 24:15

Why call me “Lord, Lord”
And not do as I say?

He who hears my words but acts not with his deeds
Is like one who builds on the sand whose house will find ruin.
Build upon solid ground and you will find peace.
Floods may come crashing down but they will not crush you.
My house will stand the storm
If you believe.

My house has many rooms for each of my followers.
Come dwell in my house of hope, truth and love.
Serve and obey me so you’ll find life abundant.
I’ll give you shelter from life’s stormy weather.
All you must do is choose
Life over death.

House of the Lord (4X)

Enter through My door and know you are accepted.
Welcomed by My house of Lord, God, and Spirit.
You are designed to live One with My Father.
Claim all your blessings and live in the heavens.
All is prepared to live
life under grace.

As for me and my house
We choose the Lord.

Good To Go

Here's a summer song, a fun instrumental, with fun lyrics.  See what you think....give it a listen♫♪

Highway is calling to me…

1. Give me my V8 engine, CD “compilation”,
And I am good to go (good to go)
I like my engine runnin’, tunes spinnin’ round and poundin’,
And I am good to go (good to go)

Refrain:
Drivin’ with my windows down,
My hair is blowin’ all around
And I am good to go.

Ribbon of road in unfolding,
Wheels are rollin' so devoutly,
And I am good to go.

Nothing is going to stop me…

2. Hands in the wheel position, ready for road conditions,
And I am good to go (good to go)
Eyes on the far horizon, keeping all options open,
And I am good to go (good to go)

Refrain
Ribbon of road in unfolding
Wheels are humming so intently
And I am good to go.

3. Pavement is falling behind me.
I’m beltin’ out loud and silly.
And I am good to go.
My destination is calling.
It won’t take long, I’m a-haulin’
And I am good to go.
I am so good to go.

Got my dough, dog in tow, let's go Jo.

Refrain
Ribbon of road is unfolding
Wheels are runnin' oh so smoothly
And I am good to go.

Drivin’ with my windows down,
My hair is blowin’ all around
And I am good to go.
Highway is calling to me
And it’s so good to go…

To go...to go...to go...to go…
Let’s go.

Year of the Tears

Wrote a light instrumental, but these are the words that came into my head when I listened to it! Sort of a light at the end of the tunnel type piece.
Check out other tunes on my song page site found on the side bar♫♪
And see other entries for the letter Y....

Year Of The Tears

1. This side of the year looks like it will be full of tears.
Challenges arise that are hard, won’t disappear.
I’ll be the one who listens.
I’ll be the one who hangs on everything you’ll ever say.
I’ll be the one who laughs at all your jokes and riddles.
I’ll be the one who understands.

Refrain:
This is a year of  the tears.
We’ll try to dry them
And get thru to the end of fears,
Oh yeah, this is just a year of tears, we will get through this.
You and I will persevere.

2. My soul is the mate to yours. Just feel it with your heart.
I see it in your grin that you know what I’m about.
I’ll be the one who hears you
when you become frustrated. I’ll be the one whom you can trust.
I’ll be the one who can share all of your expectations.
I’ll be the one who’s passed the test.

Refrain

We’ll get through this year with friends faith and hope.
(Dry up those tears, dry up those tears)
We’ve got a whole future waiting. It’s within our scope.
(Dry up those tears, dry up those tears)

I am the one who loves you.
I am the one to keep you happy forever and a day.
I am the one who cares and
I am the one to make you see us together for always.

Refrain

We’ll get through this year with friends faith and hope.
(Dry up those tears, dry up those tears)
We’ve got a whole future waiting. It’s within our scope.
(Dry up those tears, dry up those tears)

We’ll get through the year, it’s just our
Year of the tears, year of the tears.  (2X)
We’ll get through this year so just
dry up those tears, dry up those tears, those tears.
