Bless Us O Lord

An attempt at a communion hymn♫♪

Bless Us O Lord

Bless us O Lord in these thy gifts we receive
From out of thy great bounty Lord our God.
We come to you on bended knee in thy house
To worship and to give you thanks
Lord our God.

Chorus
This bread we eat to remember.
This cup we drink to recall
The night you gave of your life’s blood,
You beckon to us
Savior of us all.

2. Grant us your blessings as we come before thee
Assembled here together, Lord our God.
Served at thy table to bring Christ’s unity
To celebrate thy sovereignty,
Lord our God.

Chorus

3. Bless us O Lord in these thy gifts we receive
From out of thy great bounty Lord.

Bless us one and all
As we heed your call
Bless us Lord.

Twistwhim

This is an entry for a contest where you had to use words from a word bank. Underlined words are from the word bank, although they add texture to the piece.  Twisters are not symmetrical, so I went for the odd shape♫♪

Twistwhim

                 Sunny, started out.
    Darkened, I smartly shout,
“Hail, all ye who are gathered,
Wild clouds may turn to twister!
            Swift! Seek shelter!
Be not victims of Joplin-like disaster!”
But nay, the herd of clouds, corralled,
                                Ascended, lariated, and squalled.
Then, blown windswept by nature’s valve, dissolved.
Collectively,
           We breathed reliefs…
                         All’s at
                             Peace
                              !!!

Apologee

I tried for a light instrumental to go with that heavy emotion of loving from afar….

APOLOGEE
1. I apologize
I misplaced myself.
I got lost in your eyes
Felt time and space melt.
Refrain:
I know you’re out of reach
And I am not your style.
It’s just your easy streak
And your ready smile
Has deluded me
To think that I’m your kind
2. An irrational choice
I misspoke my word
To hear your velvety voice
Just makes my tongue go all slurred.
 Refrain
3. The mistake is mine
For embracing you
Tangling you up like a vine,
 holding a tether to you.
Refrain
4. So I apologize.
I am still your friend.
So I’ll put on my new guise,
And see us thru to the end.
Refrain
It won’t happen again
I’ll keep it straight in my mind.

Random Numbers

Here’s a catchy instrumental♫

While I never actually use the word ‘zero’ this is an entry for Alphabe-Thursday – Letter Z
Random Numbers
Five, four, three, two, one, none.
Five, four, three, two, one, none.
1. This is the age of numbers,
Telephone stage encumbered.
Math holds the rhythm on our lives.
Number of smiles are like the number of miles are like the number of lies, atomic size.
Everything is random numbers.
Chaos and some awesome wonders,
Countless energy is spent on love.
But for your four one one
Nothin’s random ‘bout love.
2. My heartbeat goes undetected.
Temp’rature’s unaffected
They just go on and on and on.
Number of tears is like the number of years is like the number of loves that come undone.
Jersey numbers, birthday numbers
All the universal wonders,
Counting every moment ‘cause we can.
But for your four one one
Nothin’s random ‘bout love.

Bingo numbers, gambling tumblers,
Combination locking numbers
Zip codes for your mail delivery….
Sporty numbers, model numbers,
Bowling frames all full of thunder,
Count your lucky stars that you’re with me.

Five, four, three, two, one, none.
Five, four, three, two one, none.
3. My heart has now discovered
There is another number
You seem to claim all as your own.
You have my number and that’s it you remember. How’s it you get to live in your own zone?
Here’s to your four one one.
(Don’t rescue me from this zone)
Nothin’s random ‘bout love.
(six, five, four, three, two, one, none.)
It’s all your four one one.
(This is your countdown you have won.)
You have won.

You're In My Way

“You’re in my way,” states Lt. Cmdr. Shelby in the lift with Commander Riker from the Star Trek Next Generation scene in Best Of Both Worlds, Part 1.  She was encouraging him to make way for her to take charge and Riker wasn’t pleased.  It was a great scene♫♪

Yes, I’m a Star Trek fan.  Grew up watching the original series.  This line stuck with me and turned into verses, with a tune and an attitude. Turned out to be more focused on road metaphors, but the idea sparked from Star Trek.

You’re In My Way

You’re in my way….
For every car on the road
I check that license plate code
To see if you’re at the wheel, because I feel…

Refrain:
You’re in my way.
Get out of my way.
You’re in my way.
You think you own this road
But it’s double-laned.
I won’t re-adjust my attitude
Your style has waned.
You’re in my way.

I chanced upon an old note.
It gave my heart quite a jolt.
It was unfair from the start that you’re so smart….Refrain

I always set my own pace
But my mind glimpses your face.
I struggle under your gaze, your steady gaze.
You’re in my way!
~
You’re in my way…
You have your motor warmed up
And have no fear getting stopped.
You will just work that old charm, that boyish charm.

You’re in my way.
Get out of my way.
You’re in my way.

We may be on the same course
But I will not let you force
Your way back into my life. I will survive.
You’re in my way
Get out of my way.
You’re in my way. (2x)
Get out of my way.

More of the Same

So, I was stopped at a light, turning left, listening to the turn signal when I had this idea for a song….When I started playing around with the various instruments to emulate the turn signal, I found that the xylophone was the ideal choice.  The song is mostly about finding myself in a tired, old rut, but I am pleased with the results ♫♪

More of the Same
1. More of the same old road.
More of the same old load.
Traveling down this way’s the same,
It’s not unique.
Payin’ the same old dime.
Playing the same old rhyme.
Movin’ on down this road I’m just not at my peak.
More of
The same.  More of
The same. More of
my aimless destiny,
dismal sea.
2. More of my years go by.
More of my cares subside.
More of my routines feel inadequate to me.
Runnin’ the same old scheme.
Top of my game supreme
More of my life is just repeating hist’ry.
Reach out.
Break out
I need help to turn around my signals…
 inside out.
Tell me to speak out.
Freak out.
Change my whole routine to break this rut.
More of
The same.  More of
The same. More of
my routine, blue scene.
More of the same….
